“there are few places in England

Maidenhead.”

Starting at 11.00am, visiting
Marlow, Hambleden Valley,
Henley-on-Thames and with
a late afternoon cruise on the
loveliest and laziest stretch of
the River Thames this is one
of our absolute favourites.
Available every day from April
to the end of September. You
can book a maximum of 57
people for this cruise. From
August onwards when the
evenings get a little chillier be
sure to remind your members

the Chilterns forming a beautiful deep gorge
with beech woods towering above us. This
is the stretch of river famous for Swan
Upping, the Wind in the Willows and Three
Men in a Boat. There are breathtaking views
of the hanging woodlands of Cliveden and
glimpses of the house itself, which became
synonymous with political and social
intrigue culminating in the “Profumo Affair”
in the early 1960s.
We step ashore opposite the Compleat
Angler at Marlow and return to the coach
ready to head for home at 6.15pm.
magical charm that has enchanted onlookers
for centuries.
We arrive in Henley, Queen of the Thames,
for a good long lunch break with plenty of
time to explore the riverside and town. We
recommend investing in a cream bun to take
with you on
the boat to have with a cup of
tea.
At the start of the afternoon we wind our
way through the Quarry Woods to Cookham.
Sir Stanley Spencer was born and worked
here, wheeling his painting equipment past
the pretty workmen’s cottages and much
grander houses in an old pram.
At 4.00pm
we board our

Cream Tea
Cruise
Here’s an unusual day at the
green and rural end of the Lee
Valley, not far from Junction
25 of the M25. We are going
to show you where Team GB
won gold and silver medals in
the Olympic white water canoe
events, follow in the footsteps
of pilgrims seeking miracles at
King Canute’s Holy Cross and
enjoy a cream tea cruise on the
River Lee Navigation.
This tour is available Weds,
Thurs & Fri only from 3 April
until the end of October 2013.
Maximum 55 people.

into Hertfordshire.
After lunch we are going to take a gentle
90-minute cruise on the Lee Navigation
through quiet countryside. Surprisingly the
Lee Valley Park has more area covered by
water than the Norfolk Broads. A delicious
cream tea, included in the tour fee, will be
served before we return to the wharf to head
home at 4.45pm.
them splashing down the course.
Next a short drive into Waltham Abbey to
follow in the footsteps of mediaeval pilgrims.
There was a little wooden church here
serving the local folk but 1000 years ago in
the time of King Canute a large stone cross
with miraculous healing powers was brought
here from Somerset and the church started to
attract pilgrims, especially those who were
on their way from London to the shrine of
Our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk. This is
a beautiful and ancient building with lots of
stories to tell. We break for lunch in Waltham
Abbey but this is not a day to eat a big meal
as you’ll want to leave room for a cream tea
that is one of
the best in the
business.
