The White Cliffs & Walmer Castle
On this day we’ll drive your
group right to the edge!
The edge of England.
Enjoy exhilarating views
from the White Cliffs of
Dover without climbing
any hills and visit Walmer
- the prettiest of the Kent
seaside castles – more like
a little stately home and
thankfully free of lots of
steps! Plus start the day in
style with morning coffee
at The Grand Hotel on the
Folkestone Leas looking
out to sea (included in the
tour fee), drive through one
of Kent’s beautiful hidden
valleys and stop for lunch
in Deal – maybe the loveliest
seaside town in all of Kent.
Meet the guide at The Grand
Hotel, Folkestone at 10.30am
for morning coffee and
biscuits, included in the tour
fee. Built a century ago as
gentlemen’s apartments the
hotel became an overnight
sensation with the upper
crust and was frequented by
Edward VII. And his wife.

colourful place, more like
a small stately home than
a castle with beautiful
furniture and relics of past
Lord Wardens including
Wellington’s Boots! Enjoy
the views out to sea and
wander in the compact
gardens, which are a delight
at any time of year with
remarkable topiary yew
hedges and spectacular
herbaceous borders. Rest
And his mistress!
Next sit back to enjoy a
scenic drive through the
beautiful Alkham Valley
before dropping back from
the North Downs to the sea to
drive through Dover – seedy
and spectacular in oddly equal
measure. The White Cliffs
of Dover are one of our most
impressive natural features,
a British icon and a symbol
of hope and freedom. We stop
at the National Trust viewing
point for panoramic views of
the cliffs, Dover Harbour and,
on a clear day, France.
On to Georgian Deal for
lunch. A quaint and attractive
mix of unspoilt seafront with
small fishing boats pulled up
on the shingle and an historic
conservation area make this
one of the gems of the East
Kent coast
.
Fish & chips on
the pier anyone?

Just lovely.

We have had a lovely day out to the White Cliffs &
Walmer Castle. Wonderful weather, nice coach, good
driver and a very good guide. We have had Carol before
so we were very pleased to see her again. The venue for
coffee - The Grand at Folkestone was very well received,
we enjoyed the NT viewpoint, Deal for lunch was good ...
and Walmer Castle finished off a very successful outing.
Thank you for giving me a day off!
