Royal Greenwich: Cutty Sark & The Cable Car
With a Walk in Greenwich Park & The Best View in London
St Mary Mead WI Wednesday 22nd May 2013
We’ll meet a City & Village Tours Blue Badge Guide
at 10.30am at Greenwich Park. A five-minute flat
walk along the avenue of trees which is the starting
point for the London Marathon takes us to an
attractive pavilion café where we can buy morning
refreshments.
The view from the top of Greenwich Park (seen
by four billion people around the world during the
Olympics) is incredible – the River Thames, The O
2
& the Cable Car even the Olympic Stadium and
looking across to the City and St Paul’s and the new
Shard. We walk down through the part of Greenwich
Park that became the Olympic Cross Country course
and enjoy a tour of Inigo Jones’s Queen’s House and
a peek inside the National Maritime Museum to see a
beautiful ceremonial barge. We stop here for lunch -
there’s a café in the museum or you can buy lunch
in the town or picnic in Greenwich park.
After lunch we visit the Cutty Sark, reopened by
HM Queen Elizabeth II following a £50 million
restoration. There are lifts to take you between decks
to see where the tea from China was stored. You can
also go underneath the ship to see a collection of
figureheads and to fully appreciate the magnificent
shape of the world’s last clipper.
Join us for a guided tour of Royal Greenwich with
a walk in Greenwich Park to enjoy one of the best
views in London, a tour of the Queen’s House plus
visits to the National Maritime Museum and the
Cutty Sark. We will round off the day with a 360°
return flight on the new Thames Cable Car.

a flight on the new Emirates Air Line Thames Cable
Car. On a 360° non-stop flight from The O
