This off-the-beaten-track day
is designed to keep your folk
warm and entertained during
the winter months. With
morning coffee & biscuits and
a hot lunch included in the
tour fee, a fascinating coach
tour of “London peculiars”,
and a guided tour of the
wonders and mysteries of the
fabulous Freemasons’ Grand
Lodge in Covent Garden this
is a winning day out.

for coffee and biscuits.
Suitably refreshed
we’re off by coach to
explore curious and
quirky details of the
capital that you’ve
probably passed by
and missed.
We’ll step down from
the coach in Mayfair to
enjoy a plethora of

relaxing glass of wine

Our afternoon is

curiosities all within a short walk; snuggle
up next to Churchill and Roosevelt on a park
bench for a photograph, chat to a Burlington
Arcade Beadle resplendent in his Edwardian
frock coat and gold braided top hat (but be
sure not to carry a parcel or open an umbrella
or they may turf you out) and, with a bit
of luck, watch Mr Fortnum and Mr Mason
strike the hour on the amazing clock above
the door of their famous shop front.
For lunch we return to our City pub where
a main course lunch is included in the tour
fee. There will be a one choice only set
menu plus a vegetarian option, which varies
according to the pub so we will let you know
at the time of booking.
the lush interiors of the Freemasons’ Grand
Lodge in Covent Garden. At the heart of
this monumental art deco building is the
astonishing Grand Temple with its beautiful
mosaic ceilings, stained glass and elaborately
carved doors.
After your guided tour there’ll be a short
time to explore the library and museum of
Masonry or wander out into Covent Garden
to buy a cup of tea before the coach heads
for home at 4.45pm.

this morning for a stroll
through an elegant slip of
London. Hear about the
ghost of the Cockpit Steps,
see James Bond’s Secret
Service HQ and meet
“Brandy Nan” - as wide as
she was tall and with rotten
gout to boot! On Birdcage
Walk learn the etiquette
of the duel and on Guard
Change days watch the

to the five regiments of
Foot Guards - Grenadier,
Coldstream, Scots, Irish
and Welsh Guards and
the two regiments of
Household Cavalry that
make up Her Majesty’s
Household Division
guarding the Sovereign and
the Royal Palaces. Learn
the secrets of identification
(it’s all in the buttons)
and see the Horse Guards
horses hanging their heads
over a wall - fifty feet in
the air in Knightsbridge.
Band march back to barracks. Last but not
least encounter the biggest toy soldier shop
in the world and visit The Guards Chapel
(closed on Saturdays and for funerals).
Back to the pub for a tasty Guardsman’s
Lunch of ham, egg & chips (or vegetarian
option) included in your tour fee. Individuals
pay for any hot and cold drinks or desserts
they fancy on the day. We’ll bring out
our own authentic bearskin and Colour
Sergeant’s tunic for you to try on – so don’t
forget your cameras. You’ll receive useful
tips on how to shine your boots and groom
your bearskin.
And so to Whitehall to see a little known
spectacle of London pomp and ceremony
when the Queen’s Lifeguard in gleaming
State ceremonial uniforms of scarlet and gold
turn out for inspection on Queen Victoria’s
“Punishment Parade”. This is where the
scantily-clad Olympic beach volleyball stars
wowed the crowds.  
A fascinating and entertaining day ends here
after time to buy cuppa locally. You’ll be
back on the coach heading home a smidgeon
after 5.00pm.
