Bawdy Bankside
Looking for an afternoon or evening tour? Here is an
entertaining London guided walking tour which you
can start anytime between 2-00pm and 7-30pm on any
day of the year. The tour lasts approximately three and
a half hours including a midway stop for hot or cold
drinks and an hour at the end enjoying a fish & chip or
chicken & chip supper which is included in the tour
fee of £16.95 per person.
We follow the River Thames on Southwark’s Bankside
which was the Soho of Elizabethan London. Memories
of a racy past echo in the cobbled riverside alleyways
and lanes during our walk on the wild side. There are
great views of the City skyline & St. Paul’s and lots
of discoveries along the way including a delicate rose
window which survives from the mediaeval Palace
where Bishops lived cheek by jowl with the brothels
and the bear pits. You will hear about the original
Clink prison, see Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and
encounter some famous film locations.
This is a great opportunity to hear the story of
London’s watermen and trace the story of the
Thames as London’s great highway.
This is a really entertaining walk with a midway pub
stop on the riverside where your members can buy a
drink. At the end of the tour a fish & chip or chicken
& chip supper is included in the tour fee.
This is a walking tour and although we don’t trek
for miles we wouldn’t recommend this trip for
people who have pronounced walking difficulties.
The tour is available every day all year.
Adults & Senior: £16.95
This price is valid for all trips taking place on or
before 31st March 2013
Hampstead & London’s Lost Rivers
High above the metropolis sits London’s Montmartre.
Writers and artists were once drawn to this old village
by the cheap rents and the clean air. Today there are
more millionaires in Hampstead than in any other part
of London and they live in beautiful houses which
we’ll show you after coffee included in the tour fee.
We don’t walk too far turning at Hampstead Old
Church, which is the final resting place of well known
folk from the distant past like John Constable and
some from more recent times, like Kay Kendal and
Anton Walbrook (who as it happens in anglicising his
Austrian surname chose the name of one of London’s
Lost Rivers). After a roast lunch back at the pub,
(included in fee), we follow, by coach, the course of
one of London’s Lost Rivers, the Fleet from the Heath
to the Thames at Blackfriars. Along the way we
discover a little bit of countryside stranded round the
back of Kings Cross station and an old country church
that was built on the banks of the River Fleet.
The day runs from 10-30am to 4-45pm or as a Later
Start Day starting with lunch and coffee at midday.
This tour is £18.95 per person and it’s on page 15
of our current brochure and under the London and
Together Tours tabs on our website.
