TO GOD & THE BRIDGE
watermen’s stairs and if its low tide the causeways.
Then it’s back to the pub for lunch – your folk can
choose from a selection of hot meals, the main meal is
included in the tour fee and individuals can choose and
pay for drinks and desserts if required on the day.
In the afternoon we’ll visit two City churches, one that
survived the Great Fire of London and the other a Wren
church built after the fire. We’ll also walk beneath the
Temple Bar, the only surviving City gate now beautifully
restored and erected next to St. Paul’s Cathedral where
we stop in the Cathedral precincts for tea.
Head home at 4-45pm unless you would like to stay for
Choral Evensong at St. Paul’s which takes place every
weekday at 5-00pm, the service lasts one hour and is of
course the best way to experience the Cathedral in action.
The walking tour part of the day is designed with
older people in mind.
This trip is available weekdays only except December.

In the God fearing and walled mediaeval City of London
there were over 100 churches, some seven gates but only
one bridge. Old London Bridge was of a huge importance
to the City merchants who were encouraged in their wills
to bequeath money "To God and the Bridge". Join us on an
entertaining day which includes morning coffee & biscuits
as well as a main course lunch. We will tell the story of the
Thames Watermen, discover some old watermen’s stairs
and cross the four City Bridges. We’ll trace the old city
walls and gates and visit two beautiful City churches. It's a
great itinerary, ideal for those who enjoy good storytelling
and lots of variety but who do not want to walk too far. In
short we neither underestimate your minds nor overestimate
your legs. It’s ideal for autumn and is available for £18.95
including coffee and lunch until the end of March 2013.
Meet the Guide in the City of London at 10-30am for coffee
included in the tour fee. During the morning our coach tour
traces the boundaries of the City and crosses the City
bridges. We discover the secret mark of the bottomless and
ever growing fund of “bridge money”, reveal the best way
to preserve the head of an executed traitor so that it lasts as
long as possible on a spike and find curiosities like the old
