We are offering all of our Olympic itineraries
throughout 2012 right up until 24 July and then
again from 10 September. Neither before nor
after the Games this year will it be possible to go
inside the Olympic Park but with new roads now
open there are great views from a number of
vantage points. Our 2012 brochure includes six
different Olympic itineraries (there are yet more
on the website). The brochure trips are:
– our in depth
day trip including morning coffee and lunch.
A great introduction to Olympic London.
as above but
the day starts at noon with lunch and a coffee
so it is ideal if you are coming from further afield.
new for
2012 start with mid morning brunch on a boat,
enjoy an Olympic panoramic tour and then shop
at the new state of the art Westfield Stratford
City shopping centre. A great trip if your folk like
a little less tour and a bit more free time.
- a comprehensive tour
of Olympic London with morning coffee and
lunch included and time to enjoy the Firepower
galleries at the historic Woolwich Arsenal. The
recommended itinerary for returning groups.
Explore
Olympic London at the gritty urban end of the
Lee Valley and enjoy a cream tea cruise at the
leafy, rural end. Another very popluar option for
returning groups.
- A Christmas tour. Arrive for free
time for lunch at Westfield, enjoy a tour of
Olympic London in daylight, a tour of the London
Lights as the sun goes down and sit back to
relax on our unique ten mile cruise after dark
(and still head for home by 7.15pm).
Although a lucky few bagged Olympic tickets
most of us plan to watch the Games on the telly
but it’s not too late to become part of Olympic
history. If you are a first time visitor or you are
returning after an earlier tour here is what is new
to see in 2012:
The new cable car across the River Thames
(to be known as the Emirates Airline). From The
old Millennium Dome on the Greenwich Peninsula
(now known as The O
2
)
which will host events
including gymnastics via the Excel Centre where
they are having the table tennis and fighting
sports and then on to the London City Airport also
in the Royal Docks from where visitors will be
able to fly home to wherever it is that they’ve sold
all the Olympic tickets to! The five minute one-
way cable car ride, which will be an integrated
part of London’s transport network, will be the
UK’s first urban cable car.
Vast space age constructions for the
shooting events
up on Woolwich Common by
the old Royal Artillery Barracks. Extraordinary!
The state-of-the-art Westfield Stratford City
shopping centre. This is quite literally the gateway
to the London Olympics with a new boundary
road running between the centre and the Olympic
Park so even if shopping is not your thing (and it’s
not mine at all, I have vowed to go to my grave
before I go to Bluewater) we make full use of the
new and exciting Olympic views from here.
Of course if your group would like to shop we’ve
got that covered on the new Full English Olympic
Shopper day.
The building site transformed into a green
landscape ready for the Games
. From 2013 this
will be called the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
and we look forward very much to offering you
tours in 2013 that include a stroll in the Park and
or maybe a canal cruise around the perimeter on
the Bow Back Waters.
The Hubble Bubble
named after the Arabic
style hookah pipe that the caterpillar smoked in
Alice in Wonderland. It’s proper name is the
Arcelor-Mittal Orbit Observation Tower which is
why Londoners have dubbed it the Hubble
Bubble. This is the largest piece of outdoor art in
the UK, 377 feet of twisted red metal, our answer
to the Eiffel Tower. It was designed by former
Turner Prize winner Anish Kapoor. Come the
Games and thereafter you will be able to visit the
