And it is outside Portsmouth Cathedral in Old
Portsmouth that our new Portsmouth tours begin.
The Pub we are using (below) is the oldest licensed
premises in Portsmouth, the building is Grade II listed
with parts dating from 1759. It stands on the High
Street in Old Portsmouth, otherwise known as the A3
- the London to Portsmouth trunk road. But this is
quite a contrast to the busy sections of the A3.
A few hundred yards further along the A3 comes
to an abrupt dead end as it meets the sea!
And you really are never far from the sea in
Portsmouth - it is the only UK city to be built on
an island. Come and discover the rich history and
pretty streets of Old Portsmouth and make a day of
it with a Ships in Port Harbour Tour or a visit to the
really good new Mary Rose Museum in the Historic
Royal Dockyard. You can opt to include morning
coffee and a group lunch in Portsmouth’s oldest pub
or opt for free time at the Gunwharf Quays, the new
designer outlet open air shopping complex on
the harbour at the foot of the Spinnaker Tower.
Please turn over for descriptions of our new
Portsmouth tours which are available now and for
booking into 2014.
